چکیده

System architecting for high-tech machines is currently performed by highly experienced individuals, who often use an intuitive approach to their craft. In order to allow better cooperation, and to enable the dissemination of experience and knowledge, a framework is needed in which the methods, modelling formalisms, techniques and tools used by system architects are captured. In this paper, such a framework is proposed. Different steps in a system architecting process are given, with appropriate techniques. Examples are given from a large scale research project investigating the design of a high-speed copier. Finally, the abstract framework is mapped to a dynamic workflow model closely resembling industrial practice.

Multi-level Thrust Ripples Minimization of Linear Flux Switching Motors With Segmented Secondary by Combined Genetic Algorithm and Response Surface Methodology

Linear flux switching motors with simple passive segmented secondary, referred as Segmented Secondary Linear Flux Switching Motors (SSLFSMs), have low cost secondary and therefore are applicable to transportation systems like Maglev. However, it is shown that the SSLFSMs suffer from high thrust ripples. In this paper, minimizing SSLFSM thrust ripples besides maximizing its developed thrust are ...

Effective industrial modeling for high-tech systems: The example of Happy Flow

In the design of high-tech systems like copiers, wafer steppers and televisions, modeling plays an important role. However, not all developed models are industrially successful. It would be very beneficial if guidelines were available on how to create industrially effective models that support the system architects and speed up the multi-disciplinary design of high-tech machines. In this paper,...
